Bulk Importing Data
You can import your data from other systems directly into ApartmentAdvisor Assist
For quick addition of properties, units or residents, you can import your data from a spreadsheet into Assist. Our import tool uses AI to efficiently import data from just about any format into your account. Exports from most property management systems (PMS) can be imported without modification into Assist.
Importing Property/Unit Data
- First, navigate to the Imports page
- Select Create new Import
- Select Properties and Units as the Import Kind
- Click the Browse button to select the file to upload. You can either use our blank template and fill out the data yourself, or use an export from your current system.
- Click Begin Import to start the Import process.
Our AI code will then parse your spreadsheet/export and show you the results. All imported Units will show as "Needs review" in Assist until you view them and "Save as reviewed". This is an optional step if you want to review the imported data. Units in "Needs review" status are fully enabled in our system.
Property/Unit Spreadsheet Requirements
As stated before, most exports from a property management system will work for direct import into Assist. The following are minimal fields your spreadsheet need to have for the import to work:
- A Header row that labels all the columns (ie Name, Address, City, State, Beds, etc)
- Columns for Property Name, Address (with city and state included or in separate fields), Unit Number, Beds, and Baths
Importing Resident Data
- First, navigate to the Imports page
- Select Create new Import
- Select Residents as the Import Kind
- Click the Browse button to select the file to upload. You can either use our blank template and fill out the data yourself, or use an export from your current system.
- Click Begin Import to start the Import process.
Our AI code will then parse your spreadsheet/export and show you the results. All imported Residents will show as "Needs review" in Assist until you view them and "Save as reviewed". This is an optional step if you want to review the imported data. Residents in "Needs review" status are fully enabled in our system.
Resident Spreadsheet Requirements
As stated before, most exports from a property management system will work for direct import into Assist. The following are minimal fields your resident spreadsheet need to have for the import to work:
- A Header row that labels all the columns (ie Name, Address, City, State, Beds, etc)
- Columns for Property Name, Unit Number, Resident Name, Phone, email (optional), lease end date (optional)
Reviewing Imported Data
You can review the imported data, make edits, and enter any missing data by using the Properties, Units, and Residents tools.
