How to Send Announcements to Residents

A guide to communicating important information to tenants via email, SMS, or pinned Resident Portal announcements.

Assist offers a variety of different ways to communicate messages to residents - ensuring that information always makes it's way to tenants, whether via email, text, or directly in the resident portal. Announcements can be sent en masse to your entire rent roll, or to specific properties, buildings, units, or tenants - giving you options on who receives what information.

The three main ways to send announcements are Email Announcements, Text Message (SMS), and Resident Portal Announcements. For important information, you can always use all three methods at the same time to ensure tenants don't miss anything. See the below guides for a walkthrough on using each of these communication methods:

Email Announcements

Email announcements are the best way to communicate longer announcements and more detailed updates, but are more likely to be missed if tenants aren't checking their email inboxes regularly.

Text Message Announcements

Text message announcements are the most reliable way to ensure tenants receive and see important updates. For time-sensitive or urgent information, SMS is the fastest and most effective channel to notify residents and help them view critical details right away.

Resident Portal Announcements

Resident Portal Announcements appear directly within the Resident Portal whenever residents log in. Think of them as a digital bulletin board: you can schedule messages for specific dates, use them for short-term updates, or leave them visible indefinitely for ongoing projects. When tenants access their Resident Portal, your announcement will be prominently displayed at the top of the page.
